Can you talk while on ECMO?
I'm wondering if it's possible to speak when a person is on ECMO. I'd like to know if the machine allows for communication or if it restricts the ability to talk.

Does the heart beat while on ECMO?
Could you please clarify for me if the heart continues to beat normally when a patient is undergoing extracorporeal membrane oxygenation, or ECMO? I'm particularly interested in understanding if the heart's natural pumping action is suspended in any way during this procedure, or if it maintains its regular rhythm and functionality while the ECMO machine assists with oxygenation and blood circulation.
